At Global Dental Centre, North York, we are proud to offer the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), designed to make quality dental care accessible and affordable for individuals and families. What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is an affordable, in-house dental plan that covers essential dental services for a low annual fee. CDCP helps patients maintain excellent oral health by making routine exams, cleanings, and basic restorative care more accessible, without relying on external insurance.

Who Qualifies for the CDCP?

To be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You do not have access to private dental insurance through work, school, pension benefits, or a family member.
  • Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000 per year.
  • You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
  • You (and your spouse/common‑law partner, if applicable) have filed your tax return in Canada for the previous tax year.

Meeting these requirements allows you to apply to the CDCP and, once approved, begin receiving covered dental services through participating providers.

CDCP FAQs

What is gum disease?

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums caused by plaque and bacteria. It can affect the tissues that support your teeth and, if left untreated, may lead to tooth loss.

Good oral hygiene, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups, is the first step. Professional cleaning and scaling can also help prevent gum problems.

Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning procedure that removes plaque and tartar below the gumline and smooths tooth roots to support gum healing.

Gum grafting may be recommended for patients with receding or damaged gums to restore tissue and protect teeth.

Research shows that untreated gum disease can be linked to other health issues, including heart disease and diabetes. Early detection and treatment are important.
